The Hortus Botanicus is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world (dating back to 1638). My dad is a biologist and used to take my sister and me to forests and the botanical garden in Leiden, mainly to take pictures of mushrooms and to convince us that we should finally learn to appreciate nature. Some of that actually stuck. The Hortus in Amsterdam is interesting for anyone interested in plants, herbs and flowers AND a great place to hang out during spring or summer.

Although my boyfriend likes to search for the next bank to sleep there I like to see plants, although they are "doing nothing and are not moving" :-) The hortus botanicus in Amsterdam is a very nice one (and old one as well, established in 1638) - I love to go there! The orangery serves great desserts!
