I wanted to write this review as I was very impressed with this place. This lovely, laid back restaurant is in a very touristy part of town but not at all what i expected in the tourist trap!.
We ate inside (There is some outside seating) The restaurant wasn't full (Friday night) but there was plenty of other diners a real mix of ages, locals and tourists, a nice atmosphere, not too noisy so great for conversation. the decor is a little old fashioned but I really liked this, it's unpretentious and felt like an authentic family restaurant in Italy. The service was great . We had an Italian waitress and Northern Ireland waiter, both were relaxed ,charming and not too "in your face" and the right food came promptly to our table so no complaints in that department.
We ordered a beautiful bottle of red wine to drink with our dinner and 2 bottles of still water. For starters we shared between 3, the Italiano Antipasto Platte (which came with bread) and the Bruschetta .
For mains we had Quattro Stagoni Pizza, Pork & Beef Ravioli and one of the specials "fusilli with spicy italian sausage in a creamy sauce" my favourite was the homemade ravioli. I think it was the best I've ever had. It was quite rich but really yummy and I would definitely order it again and would love to try their other ravioli. The Fusili was fine, the sausage wasn't very spicy and I would have liked some red pepper or some other flavours but the homemade pasta is very good and al dente. The pizza was nice nothing special but tasty and we all enjoyed it, I had affagato (ice-cream which came with a little jug of espresso to pour over it) for dessert which was a pleasant end to a tasty meal in a nice environment. Great company and a trip to Inis Mor to look forward to in the morning were the magic ingredients in a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The bill came to less than 130 euros for three including wine and water which I thought was good value
I would recommend this place for families, couples, and groups of any age who want to have very reasonably priced food and a chance to chat and take their time.
Not for stag parties or people who are looking for modern food & surroundings
