Like in many other major cities (like the Kunsthalle in Vienna or Zuerich), the Kunsthal in Rotterdam has rapidly alternating exhibitions from international artists, plays with popular culture and has an extended museum shop full of desirable art books and exhibition specific gadgets. I love to visit the Kunsthal café pre and/or post museum visit ;)

Fantastic! I have been now several times to Kunsthal Rotterdam and it always has been a special experience. Beside the exhibtion Dutch Inventions (Made in Holland), where you can test the Senz storm umbrella in a windchannel, the Kunsthal at the moment also hosts the art depot (over 12,000 art objects) of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Inside Out) with treasures through the history of art, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century (eg. Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, Magritte, Kadinsky, ...) - so absolutely worth going there!
