Ice-cream is good, service is OK, portion sizes can be odd! (I met the stingiest server once). Prices usually go up a little every year, and the crowds say it is OK. The seating is right on the road but it also doesn't stop the competition. What a business to have..

Really nice and friendly stuff, good ice-cream (not too sweet or watery).

Besides a decent ice-cream - the ingredients of the ice-cream are also important (for me!) - so I asked the waiter and he came back with the manager. The man was very friendly and he took his time to answer all my nerdy questions. So the good ice-cream is full of stabilizers and dyestuffs ... but don´t be afraid: A TV - docu about the Viennese ice-cream showed that ALL ice-cream shops in Vienna order from the same producer their basic "chemicals" ;-))

If I would compare all ice-cream stores around Vienna, Bortolotti would be the Number 1. The ice cream is so delicious and you can get over 30 different flavors. This store is also the original one. The other stores opend afterwards based on their success.
The only sad thing about it, that they increase the price every year IMHO.
But for the taste still 5 Points!!

This ice saloon can be found on two places on mariahilferstrasse: number 22 and 94. I've been to the upper (near westbahnhof) twice and it really feels like you are in an old-midlife-crisis-ice saloon. I don't really like the athmosphere but the ice is ok (by far nothing special). However, the funny thing is: The Bortolotti is owned by a Hells Angel member ;)
