I like their entrees and the Tiramisu is to die for! But apart from that, I think the pizza and pasta sizes are a tad smaller than I would expect. Nevertheless, a good find for a good meal!

Big pizza's, decent pasta's. And fast, which is convenient when you decide to go here for lunch! The pizza with ricotta looked delicious!

It's nice, I liked it especially because of the quality of the ingredients they used - I ordered a pizza with salame piccante, and it tasted just like it'd have if my uncle got it for me from Calabria, back home. So that's good.

The negative stuff: well, their pizzas are not exactly very big, and you pay quite a bit for them. So expect to spend a bit more than you usually do in your average pizza place, and be less full than you usually are after you have a pizza.

I really recommend their tiramisù, it was lovely, very yummy and - unlike the pizza - rather big! I'll go back, I think, but not immediately.

Would like to update my assessment of this restaurant. I have probably eaten here 50 times in the past few years and it's always great. They have expanded and now have ample non-smoking room. THe menu remains largely the same, but with a few pages of seasonal items.

One thing I find odd is that they announce, quite boldly, that they charge 1 Euro for tap water if you aren't having any other beverages. But I'm willing to overlook that for the awesome food.

One thing to never forget: they have some of the best steaks in Vienna. The Bisteca Fiorentina is a ludicrous, fresh-from-the-hunk ribeye steak, rubbed gently with some oil, then tossed in the pizza oven for just a few minutes of high temperature cooking. The meat is of astonishingly high quality, and is usually perfectly cooked. However, we ate there last night and our 80 Euro steak (for a table of people to share) was still cold. Tasted great, but freaked some of my follow diners out.

All-in-all, this is still my favorite Italian restaurant in Vienna. Solid pastas, some of the best pizzas in Vienna (although they have quit selling my beloved pizza pecorina), good seafood and excellent steaks.

    Update:

i was there again in jan.2009 and they decided now to charge ONE euro for a glass of tap water! that's a major frechheit if you ask me; but the food is still brilliant, so i reduce only from five to four stars

my favorite italian in vienna. the pizzas really taste like in a good italian restaurant in the toscana.

this might be because the place is actually run by italians and not by egypts, turks or chinese...

the only downsides are that they:

    a) don't deliver.

    b) have only a small non smoking area.

    but still... wonderful.

Basic Italian food - simply. Best you can get in Vienna and this is why I gave five stars. No frills, no Bobo factor just excellent food and wine.

This is the best "basic" Italian restaurant in Vienna. The service can be grumpy and it gets quite crowded, but the pizzas are awesome and the rest of the menu, which changes seasonally, is solid to excellent.

Hits include the pizza pecorina, with chunks of aged pecorino toscana atop a perfectly-cooked, perfectly handled pizza crust. Bisteca Fiorentina cooked in the mouth of the wood-fired oven is a rare (literally) treat.

As yet, there is no "non-smoking" room and this place gets quite "geraucht", so it is a bit of a bummer.
