Great, tiny new 100% vegan counter in the heart of 1080 Wien. Seating is for 3-4 people, so be prepared to sit close to someone else if the counter is full. The interior is nice and clean, with two tiny standup counters and a coffee drip machine to pour your own coffee. The owner is a *tad* eccentric, which is all good because she's a well-trained chef and extremely friendly.
The opening hours are a bit strict, with breakfast being served only from 08:00 - 09:30, then lunch from 11:00-14:00, then dinner from 17:00-19:00, but that's ok, because it fits to the personality of the location.
To start off with, the ingredients are all fresh and just about everything is home or freshly-made. From the bread machines baking loaves of dark-bread in the back, to the soy-milk machine grinding out fresh soy milk towards the front of the counter.
I started off with breakfast, a small plate of fresh fried tofu scramble, which was perfectly greasy, I believe with a little olive oil and margarine and fried with smoked tofu chunks and onions. On the side was a few pieces of fresh-baked dark bread toast, fresh-made strawberry jam, margarine, a glass of random fresh-squeezed juice and a cup of drip coffee w/ rice or soy milk. All for around €6.50. Normally this also comes with fried beans, to make it an "English Breakfast" but unfortunately she was out of beans when I was there.
Also got to try out some home-made hummus spread, which is featured as a side on many of the breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes. So far, not off to a bad start and I'm looking forward to see how well it matures. If they extend those breakfast hours I'm positive I'd spend more time in the 8th district, especially since there's also vegan ice cream a few minutes around the corner!
