This is the kind of place I still kinda miss in my hometown. It's like a giant extension of your own living room, with a huge amount of couches, chairs, etcetera. There's even a huge amount of stuffed toys lying around.
The food is simple but good, and the drinks are nice. A great place to be, relax, work, read a book, or do whatever you please to do.

In my opinion, it's a nice place, with a comfortable couches, where you can relax with a bottle of beer or soft drink.
-
Yesterday we had a couple of drinks here. After a long day with flights, subways, busses and walks I completely relaxed in the comfy chairs. The music was a little loud and weird in my opinion, but hey who cares when you have fluffy, stuffed animals next to you?

Lovely, hipstery-kind-of place. Sit back and relax in one of the comfi chairs or couches, have a beer (try Edelstoff) and a samosa. I'm afraid I'll become a regular here...

great place! it's huge, open, comfortable, with tons of outdoor seating, good drinks at good prices. they also do a small food menu, but don't make the mistake of thinking it's bar food. it's more like the food you would find at a nice little cafe, delicious, unique sandwiches and salads, that kinda stuff.
meet your friends there for an afterwork drink and watch it turn into a party before your eyes.

werkzeugH is one of my favourite spots to go to when I have work to do on the computer but would actually prefer to go for a coffee. This is especially true in the summer because it's the only café I know where you can have your notebook plugged into a power outlet while sitting *outside* in the sun. Seriously, how cool is that?
Other things I really like about werkzeugH are its "geek factor" (its proximity to the Vienna University of Technology and the fact that one of the owners, Manfred, is a programmer himself owe much to that; WIFI is, of course, free and the café has also be known to host IT-related conferences, lectures and workshops in the past), the wild mix of furniture on the inside and its specials, like free dinners (which are usually unannounced, thus make for a pleasant surprise) or movie nights.
I have never actually spoken with Zeljko, who cooks all the food, but Manfred has always been nice whenever I talked to him/asked him questions about the café.
What I don't like so much about werkzeugH are its opening hours (it only opens at 4pm, in the summer even later, I believe) and the fact that the staff often seems pretty inattentive - even when there's hardly anyone around yet (i.e. in the afternoon). Also, the last time I was there I noticed they got rid of their paper towel dispenser in the toilet; instead, they now have one of those awful hand dryers, brr. (Something positive about the women's toilet which deserves a mention: there's always tampons available for free - a practice I believe more places should adopt.)
If I could have it my way, I'd switch the smoking and non-smoking areas (non-smokers now have to sit in the back of the café, which I don't find as nice or bright as the front) but all in all, I do quite like it here.

Cosy hangout place for beers and meetups. They are extremely uncomplicated when it comes to hosting small get-togethers. Food is nice as well. Not too happy with the isolation of the smokers behind garage doors.
-
I like the comfy-ness of the place as well as the fact that it is fairly easy to organize a small to medium event there. A short e-mail is suffice to book 5 or 10 tables, if required. They serve Bionade, which is a big plus.
Definitely very smoky, which can be quite annoying.
Nonetheless, a very geeky place I definitely like. -
one of the nerdiest places i've been for a long time =)
still they have kozel beer which is very good and the style of it is just more than unique
i had no troubles breathing ;) -
One of the cooles places in town, but it's a pity that you can't breath inside
I live in front of it but I hardly visit it, since it's impossible to stand the smoke. Shame :-(

Really nice cafe and restaurant with a geeky touch. Free wifi is every where and it suits very well for those countless web mondays.
-
great place to work or have a latte. manfred is doing a great job so that everybody feels comfortable.
-
one of the greatest locations in vienna. the staff is really friendly and thanks to wlan you can besides spending a great evening with friends get some work done. I also think the atmosphere is really great and I especially love the interior design with some nerdy accents like the label "/dev/sofa" for the sofa etc...
-
Really good to have this in my neighbourhood. It would be much better if they would not use dried parsley on the food. The Naschmarkt is not far! Go and buy your herbs there, cook!
-
definitely the center of the nerd-universe in Margareten, Nice, unconventional food too, and nice "DIY-style" architecture.

WerkzeugH is a really cool place. The food is excellent, the visitors and regulars are cool people, the staff, the wlan, the garden, the fact that they serve Club Mate, Makava and other less known beverages... The only bad thing about it is that it opens in the afternoon, so you can't have breakfast there. Or maybe you can, if you tend to get up late ;-)

i like it in WerkzeugH. the garden in the summer is really nice.
they serve my favourite drink:
MAKAvA :-) i like it

Definitely one of my fave spots in Vienna - you can't go wrong in a place that offers nice food and drinks, free WLAN and resides inside a building that used to be one of Vienna's biggest private toolshops.
I guess one can definitely call it one of Viennas netculture reallife hubs. -
Extremely impressive cafe, cultural center and emerging technology hub. You can tell the workers and owner put a lot of thought into creating a comfortable environment for everything from having cocktails, to watching fashion shows, to pondering over tech talks.
Free WLAN, prices are quite ok, the owner is usually hanging out and making sure customers are happy. What else can you ask for?
-
for some reasons, just nice people choose that place for their events. says enough, doenst it?
-
Reminds me of a typical berlin/hamburg bobo cafe. However, as the 5th doesn't offer that much it's a nice place to go to.
-
Plenty of space, a great atmosphere and free wifi make this an awesome place to get some work done in the afternoon or just hang out with friends later in the evening.
Think Phil or Möbel, but with superb and cheap food (limited to 2-3 new and unique choices each day). They also host interesting cultural events from time to time.
