PROSI is my go to store for exotic Asian spices and ingredients that are harder to find in the mainstream stores of Vienna. The service is friendly and prices are reasonable, I usually go on weekdays when it is less crowded. Would recommend this store for a fun browse either way, especially for foodies.

I've known Prosi for a long time and have always been fascinated by the large choice of foods from all over the world. It was only recently though that I discovered that they now also have a little cafe space where they offer delicious, freshly cooked (Indian) food for more than decent prices to eat in or take out. The seating area is rather small but comfortable nonetheless and the staff is very friendly.

Having lived in Asia for a while, Prosi and Nakwon are the places where I go when I'm looking for ingredients that are hard to find in Austria (they also have Marmite by the way). Prices are quite ok, the staff is friendly and the selection very good. On weekends the place tends to get crowded, so if you can go on some other day.

If you need fresh African or Asian ingredients (some of which are rather rare to come by in Vienna), this is the place you want to shop at. They also hold regular cooking classes hosted by trained cooks from different immigrant groups.

    • Addendum: Prosi now has a small restaurant corner where - among other things - they serve wonderful Southern Indian breakfasts: dosa, idli, upma, string hoppers etc. complete with sambar and chutneys. Very, very tasty and quite cheap to boot. One more reason to go there regularly.

An affordable and quite large ethnic supermarket, family owned and operated. Offering great prices on everything from tofu and thai seasonings to sodas from around the world and rice cookers, Prosis got just about everything you need for your meals.

Tip: Get there early in the day to buy their amazing homemade Samosas, which are usually sold out by the end of the evening.

    • cheap and good exotic foods, i always get my soy chunks and red lentils there. and kimchi...
